POPLARVILLE, Miss. — A second-straight 40-win season helped Pearl River softball take home a plethora of awards as the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced on Tuesday that eight Wildcats were named to the All-Conference teams.

“I am so proud of each of these girls, and saying that is an understatement,” head coach Christie Meeks said. “They went above and beyond all year in the classroom, on the field and in their representation of Pearl River. This group was truly special.”
MACCC PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Herrington’s MACCC Pitcher of the Year selection makes it back-to-back seasons for the Wildcats as Brinson Anne Rogers (Statesboro, Ga.) took home the award last season.
The Southern Miss signee tallied an incredible 1.69 ERA across 169 1/3 innings on the year. She struck out 184 batters to just 44 walks and had a WHIP of just 0.94.
“What an amazing accomplishment to have back-to-back pitchers of the year,” Meeks said. “I am so proud of Natalie for earning this award. She has worked every day without taking a moment off. I could not be prouder.”

Lavergne backed up an incredible freshman season with an equally impressive sophomore campaign. In 2024, Lavergne hit .386 with 15 doubles, seven homers and four triples. She drove in 34 runs, drew 23 walks and scored 57 runs.

She hit 18 homers, 16 doubles and five triples. Her 18 long balls tied the program record. She drove in a team-high 61 runs and scored 51.
Herrington’s Pitcher of the Year selection came with a First Team All-MACCC selection.
“Morgan was one of the most consistent and hard-working players that has been through this program,” Meeks said. “She lays it all on the line every day. Lainee was a special player, and her confidence in the box was unmatched. She led our offense all season long, and I am proud of her for earning First Team.”

“Peyton is a two-sport athlete, and for her to come in and make Second Team as a freshman after being at volleyball all fall is a major testament to her as a player,” Meeks said. “Bryn has been an amazing leader all season long. She has stepped up in so many situations as a leader. Lainee truly did so much for this team this season. She worked through so many things on the mound, and I am proud of her accomplishments.”
