POPLARVILLE, Miss. — A second-straight 40-win season helped Pearl River softball take home a plethora of awards as the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference announced on Tuesday that eight Wildcats were named to the All-Conference teams.

Natalie Herrington (Petal) was named MACCC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-MACCC. Lainee Bailey (Walker, La.) was awarded First Team All-MACCC as a hitter and Second Team as a pitcher. Morgan Lavergne (Baton Rouge, La.; Central) was also named First Team All-MACCC.

Peyton Hoffmayer (Ocean Springs) and Bryn Daughtery (Vancleave) took home Second Team honors, while Natalie Toups (Brandon; Clinton Christian Academy) and Caroline Lindsey (Gulfport) were Honorable Mention.

“I am so proud of each of these girls, and saying that is an understatement,” head coach Christie Meeks said. “They went above and beyond all year in the classroom, on the field and in their representation of Pearl River. This group was truly special.”

MACCC PITCHER OF THE YEAR
Herrington’s MACCC Pitcher of the Year selection makes it back-to-back seasons for the Wildcats as Brinson Anne Rogers (Statesboro, Ga.) took home the award last season.

The Southern Miss signee tallied an incredible 1.69 ERA across 169 1/3 innings on the year. She struck out 184 batters to just 44 walks and had a WHIP of just 0.94.

“What an amazing accomplishment to have back-to-back pitchers of the year,” Meeks said. “I am so proud of Natalie for earning this award. She has worked every day without taking a moment off. I could not be prouder.”

FIRST TEAM
Lavergne backed up an incredible freshman season with an equally impressive sophomore campaign. In 2024, Lavergne hit .386 with 15 doubles, seven homers and four triples. She drove in 34 runs, drew 23 walks and scored 57 runs.

Bailey was the most dangerous bat in the Wildcat lineup all season long. The Southeastern Louisiana transfer hit .431 with a .518 on-base percentage and a .931 slugging percentage. She hit 18 homers, 16 doubles and five triples. Her 18 long balls tied the program record. She drove in a team-high 61 runs and scored 51.

Herrington’s Pitcher of the Year selection came with a First Team All-MACCC selection.

“Morgan was one of the most consistent and hard-working players that has been through this program,” Meeks said. “She lays it all on the line every day. Lainee was a special player, and her confidence in the box was unmatched. She led our offense all season long, and I am proud of her for earning First Team.”

SECOND TEAM
Hoffmayer was electric for the Wildcats as a freshman. Through 52 games, Hoffmayer had 12 homers, 11 doubles and three triples. She drove in 57 runs, walked seven times and stole seven bases.

Daughtery wrapped up the season with a .380 batting average, a .448 on-base percentage and a .613 slugging percentage. She had 12 doubles, seven homers and three triples. She had 44 RBIs.

Bailey had an impressive season in the circle for the Wildcats. The Southeastern Louisiana transfer threw 150 2/3 innings and held a 2.88 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. She struck out an incredible 208 batters. The right-hander had a 19-6 record.

“Peyton is a two-sport athlete, and for her to come in and make Second Team as a freshman after being at volleyball all fall is a major testament to her as a player,” Meeks said. “Bryn has been an amazing leader all season long. She has stepped up in so many situations as a leader. Lainee truly did so much for this team this season. She worked through so many things on the mound, and I am proud of her accomplishments.”

HONORABLE MENTION
While Toups hit .241 at the plate, she was fifth on the team in on-base percentage with a mark of .401. She racked up three doubles, two triples and 15 RBIs on the year. She drew an incredible 37 walks and stole 17 bases.

Lindsey was clutch for the Wildcats all season long, hitting .330 with a .369 on-base percentage. She had seven doubles and four homers, driving in 18 runs.

“Natalie Toups battled all year long and did so many positive things for this group,” Meeks said. “She made diving plays, threw people out at the plate and stole 17 bases. I am so proud of how aggressive and passionate she was. Caroline was the glue for this team all year. Things did not affect her. She was clutch in so many situations.”
