HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Pearl River volleyball fought until the end of each match Saturday but ultimately fell 3-2 (19-25, 25-27, 25-18, 25-15, 12-15) to Bevill State and 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 15-25) against Wallace State.
BEVILL STATE 3, PEARL RIVER 2.
Pearl River (3-8 overall) put up a great fight against Bevill State (2-10) in the first two sets of the opening match, but fell 25-19 in set one and dropped a hard-fought set two 27-25.
With their backs against the wall, Pearl River needed a response in set three and did just that, pulling out a thrilling 25-18 victory int he third set. The fourth set was all Pearl River as the Wildcats dominated the Bears to earn a 25-15 victory and force a decisive set five.
PRCC got off to a good start in the fifth set but BSCC ultimately earned a 15-12 victory in the set to take the victory.
WALLACE STATE 3, PEARL RIVER 0.
The opening set against Wallace State was solid as the Wildcats kept within striking distance of the Lions throughout. WSCC went on to take a 25-20 victory.
The Lions were in control throughout both the second and third sets, winning them 25-16 and 25-15 and securing the match victory.

Pearl River will wrap up the Alabama/Mississippi Crossover Tournament on Sunday. The Wildcats take on Snead State at 8 a.m. and Calhoun at 1 p.m.
