POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Pearl River’s Taylor Johnson-Matthews (Cleveland, Ohio; Charles F. Brush) and JP Robertson (baseball) have been named Wildcats of the Week.

TAYLOR JOHNSON-MATTHEWS
Week after week, Johnson-Matthews has got it done on the court for the Pearl River women’s basketball team all season long. That was no different last week. The Wright State transfer averaged 18 points, 12.5 rebounds and four assists across two games. She also chipped in six steals and five blocks.

She began the week with 21 points and eight rebounds against Holmes before going on the Road and picking up a 15-point, 17-rebound double-double. She was three assists shy of a triple-double.

It’s been an incredible year for Johnson-Matthews. She currently averages 18.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.5 assists. Her points, rebounds and steals marks all lead PRCC.

JP ROBERTSON
Robertson has been electric start-after-start for PRCC this season and did it again last week against Illinois Central. He shut out the Cougars for five innings, allowing just one hit and one walk along the way. He racked up six strikeouts in the contest.

Robertson has an unblemished record through five starts and holds a 2.42 ERA. He has thrown 26 innings, struck out 27 batters and seven walks.
