POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The All-Region 23 team was announced on Thursday, and a trio of Pearl River softball members were selected. Those who earned the awards were Lainee Bailey (Walker, La.), Natalie Herrington (Petal) and Morgan Lavergne (Baton Rouge, La.; Central).

LAINEE BAILEY
Bailey was a force in the heart of the Wildcat batting order throughout the campaign. She hit five triples, 16 doubles and tied the single-season program record with 18 homers. Additionally, she had a .431 batting average, a .518 on-base percentage and a .931 slugging percentage. She led the Wildcats in RBIs with 61 and scored 51 runs.

“Lainee was a special player for us,” head coach Christie Meeks said. “Her confidence in the box was unmatched. She led the offense all season long, and I am proud of her for earning All-Region.”

NATALIE HERRINGTON
Herrington gets to add another award to her collection after already being named First Team All-MACCC and MACCC Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore right-hander wrapped up the 2024 campaign with a 1.69 ERA through 160 1/3 innings pitched. She walked just 44 batters compared to her 184 strikeouts. She ended the year with a 20-4 record and tallied one save. At season’s end, she had appeared in 31 games and had a WHIP of 0.94.

“I am so proud of Natalie for earning this award,” Meeks said. “She has worked every day without taking a moment off. I could not be more proud of her.”

MORGAN LAVERGNE
Lavergne set the tone at the beginning of the Wildcat lineup all season long. She ended her sophomore season with a .386 batting average, a .471 on-base percentage and a .636 slugging percentage. She drove in 34 runs, walked 23 times and stole 12 bases. She also hit seven homers, 15 doubles and four triples.

“Morgan was one of the most consistent and hard-working players that has been through our program,” Meeks said. “She laid it all on the line every day.”
