POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 3 Pearl River’s Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central) was nothing short of fantastic last week for the Wildcats, and for his incredible display, he has been named the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Player of the Week.

With the selection, PRCC has swept the weekly awards as JP Robertson (Madison; Germantown) took home the MACCC’s Pitcher of the Week award.

Pearl River played six games last week, five of which were against teams who were at least receiving votes in the NJCAA DII Preseason poll. In those six games, Porter held a .450 batting average, .560 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Of his nine hits on the week, three left the yard and two were doubles. He tallied 10 runs batted in, three runs scored and three walks..

The left-handed power hitter is currently tied for the NJCAA DII lead in home runs with nine on the season. His 23 RBIs are tied for seventh in the country and his 28 hits are tied for sixth most in the NJCAA. He currently holds a .406 batting average.

NEXT UP
Pearl River hosts a rivalry round-robin on Wednesday as Gulf Coast and Jones College travel to Dub Herring Park. PRCC takes on the Bulldogs at noon and the Bobcats at 6 p.m. The two teams play each other at 3 p.m.
