POPLARVILLE, Miss. — No. 3 Pearl River’s JP Robertson (Madison; Germantown) threw a gem when the Wildcats needed it most, and his efforts have earned him the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference Pitcher of the Week award.

With the selection, PRCC has swept the weekly awards as Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central) took home the MACCC’s Player of the Week award.

The Wildcats handed Robertson the ball in a ranked matchup with No. 20 Parkland, and the right-handed pitcher delivered. Robertson shut out the Cobras for six innings while allowing just four baserunners. He scattered three hits and one walk throughout the contest. He also racked up an incredible nine strikeouts in the start, helping PRCC win 14-1 in seven innings.

Robertson has shined each time he’s been given the ball, pitching against some of the toughest competition in the country. So far this season, he holds a 4-0 record, throwing 21 innings and allowing just seven earned runs for a 3.00 ERA. He has struck out 21 batters and walked just six.

NEXT UP
Pearl River hosts a rivalry round-robin on Wednesday as Gulf Coast and Jones College travel to Dub Herring Park. PRCC takes on the Bulldogs at noon and the Bobcats at 6 p.m. The two teams play each other at 3 p.m.
