Region 8-4A is perfect so far in the Class 4A South State playoffs.

All four teams in that league swept their respective opening rounds series last week as Stone, Pass Christian and Greene County all advanced to the second round.

The top-seed in the loop, Stone, smacked South Pike 17-0 on Friday to move on. The Tomcats had beaten the Eagles 12-0 in game one on Tuesday as versatile two-way standout Conner Tice tossed a four-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Tice is also the Stone starting quarterback.

Veteran head coach Ricky Smith got a no-hit outing from a trio of Pirate pitchers in an 11-0 road win Friday in a five frame affair. Branden Necaise,Dylan welter and Ethan Anderson all combined for the no-hit white wash of the Rangers. Necaise also added a three-run double at the plate, while Welter and Quinten Emerick added a pair of hits apiece to the winning 11-hit attack and Andre Gilberti drove in two runs also.

In game one, Southern Miss signee Peyton Lacy pitched four complete innings, allowing no hits, no runs, a walk and 10 strikeouts to earn the playoff victory in the 12-0 outcome.

Greene County, the third seed out of Region 8-4A, swept North Pike in a two game set ending the series with a 13-0 win on Friday after taking a 6-3 win on Tuesday.

Phillip Herring cracked three home runs and drove in seven runs in the pair of GCHS wins.

Greene County heads to perennial state power Sumrall for second round action Tuesday night.

And Bay High, the fourth and final seed in the league, swept McComb, who was the top-seed in Region 6-4A, to advance in the tournament.

The Tigers from Hancock County wrapped up the series with an 8-3 win at home Friday night in a contest that ended after six stanzas. Ethan Kingston collected three hits for BHS, while Braden Necaise and Joel Ulrich each registered a run-scoring double apiece.

Xander Ladner hurled a complete game to pick up the win for BHS. The Tigers head to Purvis to begin second round play Tuesday night. The Tigers started the series off on Tuesday on the road in Pike County with a stunning 6-5 win that set the tone for the rest of the week. Maddux Mayo led BHS with a pair of hits including a double and he drove in a game-high three runs in that win. This marks the first time in seven seasons that Bay High has advanced past the first round of the state baseball playoffs.
