Prep baseball: Resurrection nips Harrison Central; Dunsford shines as East Central pounds Picayune

There was other prep baseball action in the “Southern Six” recently as the annual Battle at the Beach was wrapping up it’s 10-day run.
Defending Class 1A state champion Resurrection earned a measure of revenge over class 6A foe Harrison Central with a 7-6 win Friday night at MGM Park.
Max Askew led the Eagles at the plate with two hits, including a double, and he drove in a pair of runs as well. Nicholas Watts had two hits including a double as well, and he drove in a run while Luke Schnoor chipped in two hits as well for RCS. Cole Tingle, Cammom McCarter plus Jesus San Miguel and Justin San Miguel each drove in a run apiece for the Eagles.

Bryan Travis had a pair of hits and an RBI for HCHS, and Daniel Ruiz had two hits as well. Tri Gaughf and Zachary Dorley also drove in runs for the Red Rebels.
Jack Duncan picked up the win, and Ruiz got the loss.
Harrison Central beat RCS 8-6 a few weeks back in Lyman.
The Red Rebels bounced back from Friday’s loss to the Eagles to drop Picayune on the road 5-2 Saturday.
Harrison Central jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.
Trenton Bond had a pair of hits and drove in a run for HCHS, while Travis drove in a run as well.
Parker Helton delivered a pair of singles and a double to pace Picayune at the plate, while Cooper Moreaux and Tanner Busby had two hits apiece and Tanner had an RBI as well. Brayden Pomes also had a double.
Jaxson Moore earned the win, and Brady Robertson took the loss.
Harrison Central travels to Pascagoula Tuesday night.

Picayune, meanwhile, was coming off a 12-2 loss in a mid-week game against East Central. It was originally scheduled to be a home-and-home series, but the second game scheduled for Friday was canceled due to weather conditions.
In the Hornet win in Hurley on Tuesday, and eight-run bottom of the sixth inning broke open a close 4-2 lead for ECHS and ended the game.
Southern Miss signee T.J. Dunsford rapped out two hits, including a home run, and also drove in a game-high four runs for the Hornets while Anthony Tanner. also blasted a two-run round-tripper in the win. Brandt Dickerson punched out a game-high three hits in the winning effort for ECHS, while Nate Trochessett collected three RBIs. Haydn Porter, Andrew Marble and Carson Ryder each had two hits apiece for the Hornets.
Morgan Craft slapped a two-run homer for Picayune, accounting for the only two runs for the Maroon Tide.
Dunsford also earned the win on the mounds for ECHS, going all six frames, striking out nine and scattering four hits. Moreaux took the loss.
