The MHSAA football playoffs get underway this week for some classifications, while some regions will be wrapping up their regular seasons in the Southern Six with only a few playoff seedings up for grabs.
Region 4-7A
Ocean Springs captured the 4-7A championship with its win over Gulfport last week while the Admirals are the runner-up. Both will have home games in the first round of the playoffs next week. Meanwhile, D’Iberville and Biloxi will decide the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively, with their head-to-head matchup. Regardless, both will have road playoff games next week.

Region 4-6A
Picayune captured the region crown with its win over George County last week. The Rebels will host Pascagoula for the runner-up spot in the region and a first-round home playoff game. Hancock, the No. 4 seed in the region, will host the Maroon Tide in a regular-season finale on Thursday.

Gautier, the 4-5A champion, will host Laurel in a regular-season finale. Vancleave, Stone and Wayne County are all 2-2 in the region and battling for the runner-up spot and a first-round home playoff game. The Bulldogs host the War Eagles with the winner likely taking the No. 2 seed. The Tomcats play host to East Central.

Greene County won the region title with a win over Poplarville last week. The Wildcats will entertain Quitman in the first round of the 4A playoffs while the Hornets will host Mendenhall in the first round. Pass Christian and Bay High will play first-round games at Northeast Jones and Forest, respectively.
