The Resurrection Eagles, the reigning back-to-back 1A state champions, delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday night, beating the Salem Wildcats 7-0 in region play in Pascagoula.
RCS scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, followed by three more runs in the fourth. The Eagles added another run in both the fifth and sixth innings to seal the victory.
The game showcased Resurrection’s pitching prowess, with seniors Trace Tingle and Hayden Porter combining for 17 strikeouts while conceding just two hits and three walks.
Offensive standouts were abundant on the RCS roster.
Senior Justin San Miguel went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Porter was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and senior Luke Schnoor blasted a solo home run.
Tingle recorded 11 strikeouts in five innings and allowed one hit.
Porter closed the game, striking out six in two innings and giving up the other Salem hit.
Senior Mason McCallum and freshman Keaton Roberts showed resilience for Salem, getting their team’s two hits.
Salem junior Logan Rayborn pitched the entire game, notching 10 strikeouts, but he gave up seven runs on eight hits.
RCS extended its winning streak to seven games and improved to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the region.
Resurrection aims to continue its momentum as it hits the road to face Salem once again on Friday.
