PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast will salute nine softball players Saturday during Sophomore Day ceremonies between games of an MACCC doubleheader against Coahoma.

First pitch at Ross-Smith Field is set for 1 p.m. Buy your tickets ahead of time to save money. It costs $7 for adults or $5 for youth online, or $10 and $7 at the gate. Tickets are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/tickets, and the game will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.

The Bulldogs will salute Kylie Burnette (So., Picayune/Picayune), Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy), Olivia Keith (So., Crestview, Fla./Crestview), Kamryn LaFosse (So., Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston), CC Lynn (So., Waynesboro/Wayne County), Kylee Necaise (So., Gulfport/West Harrison), Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union), Natalie Shaw (So., Olive Branch/Marshall Academy) and Abi Williams (So., Columbia/Columbia Academy).

Records

  • MGCCC: 28-14/10-5 MACCC, 6th place in conference
  • Coahoma: 0-22/0-14 MACCC, 15th place in conference

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC split with No. 12 East Central on Wednesday at Decatur. The Bulldogs lost 4-3 in the first game but won 6-5 in the nightcap.
  • Coahoma lost 13-1 and 12-1 to Northwest Mississippi on Wednesday in Senatobia. Both games ended in the fifth inning.

Previous Meeting

On April 13, 2023, Gulf Coast beat Coahoma 8-0 and 14-2 in five innings at Clarksdale.

  • Gulf Coast is third in the NJCAA in walks (139, 1st MACCC) and being hit by pitches (37, 1st MACCC). The Bulldogs are 10th in hits (320, 4th MACCC) and 11th in triples (13, 3rd MACCC). In the MACCC, Gulf Coast is third in on-base percentage (.419).

  • Aleah Beaugez (Fr., D’Iberville/D’Iberville) is second in the country with 12 hit by pitches (1st MACCC).
  • Jorja Roberson (So., Branyan/East Union) is fourth in the MACCC with 19 walks and seventh in runs scored (19).
  • Natalie Shaw (So., Olive Branch/Marshall Academy) is ninth in the MACCC with 11 doubles.
  • Kamryn LaFosse (So., Lake Charles, La./Sam Houston) is fourth in the conference with 19 walks.
  • AB Parrish (Fr., Corinth/Alcorn Central) is fourth in the conference with 19 walks.
  • Jett Harrell (So., Clarksdale/Lee Academy) is eighth in the MACCC with 10 wins.

  • Tuesday, April 9: at Pearl River, Poplarville, 4 p.m. doubleheader
  • Tuesday, April 16: at Coastal Alabama-South, 1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 17: vs. Hinds, Perkinston, 3 p.m. doubleheader
