Rain forced some cancellations and postponements, but the Battle at the Beach High School baseball tournament did get plenty of games in over the weekend.
The tourney resumed Monday and continues throughout the week before wrapping up Saturday.
Much of Friday’s action was washed out by rain and moved to Saturday.
After Biloxi defeated rival D’Iberville on Saturday night 6-3 to claim the Tomahawk Cup at Shuckers Ballpark, Pascagoula fell 10-0 to Houston (Texas) Christian in the nightcap.
The Mustangs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening inning, added a run in the second, and tacked on five more in the third.
Pascagoula will be a host site Tuesday with games getting underway at 9:30 a.m. The Panthers will take on Starkville Academy at 7:30 p.m. in the nightcap of five games slated for Tillman Field.
Tillman Field will also host four games on Wednesday and Friday. Goula will meet Tupelo Christian on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Also on Saturday, homestanding St. Martin rolled to a 9-0 win over Booker T. Washington of Pensacola.
The Yellow Jackets scored all their runs in the fourth inning. They got run-scoring hits from Carter Bailey, Cameron Romero and River Groue. Groue was the winning pitcher, striking out six over five innings and allowing just two hits.
St. Martin played at Hattiesburg on Monday night and will host Jackson Academy on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Alabama powerhouse Mountain Brook rolled to three wins during its stay on the Mississippi Coast. The Spartans (12-1) defeated homestanding Gulfport 5-3 on Saturday. On Thursday, the Spartans beat St. Martin 4-1 and Booker T. Washington 8-0.
The Biloxi Sports Complex hosted five games on Monday. Biloxi will face Clinton on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then take on Southwest Christian of Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday at 7 p.m.
D’Iberville will host Etowah (Ala.) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then face Seminary at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Gautier faced Covington (La.) on Monday at home and will host Mize on Thursday at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Gulfport will host Starkville Academy at noon and Madison-Ridgeland Academy at 7 p.m.
Long Beach will host Warren Central on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Ocean Springs will host Hartfield Academy on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then take on Northwest Rankin on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Vancleave hosted MRA on Monday and will face South Panola on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Four games over two days will be played at Shuckers Ballpark on Thursday and Friday with a pair of doubleheaders at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day.
Northwest Rankin will face Sumrall at 5 p.m. Thursday, followed by West Harrison and Germantown at 7:30.
On Friday, Gulfport will take on Warren Central at 5 p.m. and Picayune meets Southwest Christian at 7:30.
All seating at Shuckers Ballpark is general admission with gates opening an hour before the first pitch. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the gate.
