PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast plays its second home doubleheader to start the MACCC baseball season Wednesday when Copiah-Lincoln visits.

First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Ken “Curly” Farris Field. Buy your tickets ahead of time to save money. It costs $7 for adults or $5 for youth online, or $10 and $7 at the gate. Tickets are available at http://mgcccbulldogs.com/tickets, and the game will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.

It will be the first conference game for the Wolves.

Records

  • MGCCC: 16-6/2-0 MACCC, T-1st place in conference
  • Copiah-Lincoln: 12-12/0-0 MACCC

Last Time Out

  • MGCCC swept Mississippi Delta to open conference play Saturday, winning 18-4 and 6-3 at Perk.
  • Co-Lin swept Kankakee on Saturday at Wesson, winning 8-2 and 7-1.

Previous Meeting

On March 6, Gulf Coast beat Co-Lin 7-6 at Wesson. Charlie Keller (So., Mobile, Ala./Mobile Christian) had a home run and two RBI. It was a non-conference game.

Notes

  • Gulf Coast is second in the MACCC with 139 walks and a .458 on-base percentage. The Bulldogs are third with 51 doubles.
  • Marc Stephens (So., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) leads the conference with a .470 batting average and .573 on-base percentage. He’s second in hits (39), fourth in runs (29) and triples (3), and ninth in walks (16). Stephens is on a 14-game hitting streak with hits in 20 of 22 games.
  • Adrian Byrd (So., Wiggins/Stone) is fifth in the league with a 1.64 ERA.
  • Dom Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) is third in the league with seven homers, seventh with 26 RBI and third in slugging (.825).
  • Charlie Keller (So., Mobile, Ala./Mobile Christian) ninth in the league having been hit by eight pitches.
  • Brandon Cain (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) is ninth in the league with 11 stolen bases.
  • Kaden Irving (Fr., Gautier/Gautier) is fourth in the MACCC with nine doubles. He has a six-game hit streak.

  • Saturday, March 16: at Itawamba, Fulton, 2 p.m. doubleheader
  • Tuesday, March 19: at Southwest Mississippi, Summit, 3 p.m. doubleheader
  • Saturday, March 23: vs. Holmes, Perkinston, 2 p.m. doubleheader
