POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The National Junior Colleges Athletic Association announced its All-America teams Monday, and Pearl River baseball earned two selections, marking the sixth consecutive season that the Wildcats have had at least one selection. Hollis Porter (Hurley; East Central) was named First Team, and Bryce Fowler (Madison; Germantown) took home Second Team honors.
“What an incredible year for Hollis and Bryce,” head coach Michael Avalon said. “It was very special watching these two young men play at such a high level throughout the year. Both are extreme competitors, and they both push each other to be their best.”
HOLLIS PORTER
The offseason has been full of awards for the recent Maryland commit Porter. After being named MACCC Player of the Year, First Team All-MACCC, All-Region 23, and Region 23 Gold Glove, the slugger has been named an NJCAA First Team All-America selection. Porter was a mismatch from the start of the season until the end, wrapping up his lone season in Poplarville with a single-season PRCC record 20 homers. He added 21 doubles and four triples to end the year with 45 extra-base hits. He collected 73 RBIs on the year to finish second in single-season RBIs. He walked 31 times and picked up 83 hits. Porter had a .399 batting average, a .488 on-base percentage and a .827 slugging percentage.
The 6-foot-4 first baseman was no slouch with the glove either, as he converted 383 of 388 total chances. He helped turn 29 double plays.
“Statistically, Hollis finished with one of, if not the greatest, season in the history of Pearl River baseball,” Avalon said. “Hollis joined the likes of Rhyne Hughes, Tate Parker, Alex Perry, Meaux Landry and many other great Wildcats. More impressive than the numbers he put up was watching him work and prepare each day and the positive attitude he consistently showed this team.”
BRYCE FOWLER
When Pearl River needed a spark in 2024, Fowler was almost always there to provide it. The Campbell signee made the most of his one season in the maroon and gold, hitting .419 with a .500 on-base percentage and .681 slugging percentage. His 88 hits were the second-most in a single season in program history. He racked up 14 doubles, 11 homers and four triples throughout the season. He also drove in 52 runs, scored 64, walked 24 times and swiped 24 bags.
The center fielder also excelled in the field, finishing the year with just three errors in 90 total chances. He also recorded one outfield assist.
“What an electric year from Bryce,” Avalon said. “When Bryce went, our team went with him. Throughout the year, he had so many big hits and so many big plays for our team. The most impressive thing about Bryce was his absolute hatred of failure and his desire to succeed so his team would succeed. Bryce continually made an impact, offensively, defensively and running the bases.”

Porter and Fowler make 16 All-America selections for Pearl River in its history, joining Greg Guidry (First Team; 1994), Jake Smith (Second Team; 2003), Rhyne Hughes (First Team; 2004), Craig Rodriguez (First Team; 2005), Kyle Lindsey (First Team; 2008), Krisjon Wilkerson (Second Team; 2013), Meaux Landry (Second Team; 2018), Wiley Cleland (Third Team; 2019), Graham Crawford (Third Team; 2021), Landon Gartman (First Team; 2021), Alex Perry (Third Team; 2022), Tate Parker (First Team; 2021-22) and Cooper Cooksey (Second Team; 2023).
