Mississippi Gulf Coast couldn’t hold on in the nightcap and lost a pair to Hinds in an MACCC baseball clash Wednesday at Raymond.

The Eagles got a walk-off grand slam to win the second game 7-5. Hinds won the opener 20-5 in seven innings.

In the second game, Kaden Irving (Fr., Gautier/Gautier) had an RBI single in the first for Gulf Coast. Marc Stephens (So., Orange Beach, Ala./Gulf Shores) and Dom Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) had RBI singles in a three-run second for a 4-0 lead.

Gulf Coast added a run in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead, but Hinds loaded the bases with one out in the seventh to set up the winning hit.

Brandon Cain (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) had three hits, including a double. Stephens had two hits.

Dom Jackson (Fr., Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) had the biggest blow in Game 1 for Gulf Coast, delivering a third-inning grand slam that cut the Bulldogs’ deficit to 6-4. He went 2-for-3.

Cain (So., Mobile, Ala./Baker) had two hits, including a double.

Gulf Coast will travel to Senatobia on Friday to play Northwest Mississippi. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
