No. 11 Mississippi Gulf Coast stayed unbeaten with a road win over MACCC foe East Central on Monday, winning 3-0 in Decatur.

Three different players scored their first goals of the season, and three different players assisted.

“We played pretty good,” Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. “It was the first game we controlled most of the possession throughout the whole game. The most important thing from today is we got the shutout, which we needed to get. A lot of people played, and we got another victory.”

It was a non-conference matchup. East Central visits for the first MACCC game at Perk on Sept. 17. The Bulldogs (3-0-1) will travel to Ellisville on Wednesday to play No. 12 Mineral Area. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.

Neko Worthy (Fr., St. Martin/St. Martin) broke the ice with his first goal in the 40th minute, with Alexander Mink (Fr., Long Beach/Long Beach) picking up his first assist of the season.

“It’s a team thing,” Handy said. “We have so many players, if you take away a player that leaves another one free. Neko was the last one open after we had good ball movement. We swung it across the top of the 18, and he was the last one open. That seems to be a theme. If we keep moving the ball, eventually good things will happen.”

The Bulldogs doubled the lead in the 66th minute. Victor Moerck (So., Vaerlose, Denmark/Lyngby Handelsgymnasium) got his first goal, with Luke Hopkins (So., Clinton/Clinton) picking up his second assist.

Dorian Robinson (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) scored his first goal in the 87th minute. Kade Smith (So., London, England/Whitmore) grabbed his first assist on the play.

David Ruiz Ospina (So., Manizales, Colombia/Gimnasio del Pacifico) had four saves for his first shutout of the season.

East Central is 0-3.
