POPLARVILLE, Miss. — The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its weekly awards Wednesday morning and No. 9 Pearl River’s Cameron Kent (Brandon) has been named Goalkeeper of the Week.
Kent earns the national award after a perfect week between the posts. Kent opened the week by saving two shots in a 4-0 clean sheet victory over Northwest. A few days later, he was stout at the back of the formation once again against Meridian. Ten shots were fired on goal during the match and Kent didn’t allow a single one to break through for a goal, picking up a 3-0 victory and a second clean sheet. As if the week hadn’t been impressive enough, Kent racked up six more saves without allowing a goal in PRCC’s final action of the week as the Wildcats earned a 1-0 clean sheet against National Park.
In total, Kent played all 270 minutes between the posts, made 18 saves and earned three clean sheets. In 11 matches this season, Kent has made 61 saves and allowed 19 goals.
