POPLARVILLE, Miss. — After leading their respective teams to successful weeks, Pearl River soccer’s Haylie Alvarez (Gulfport; St. Patrick) and Cameron Kent (Brandon) have been named Wildcats of the Week.

HAYLIE ALVAREZ
Alvarez finished the week with two goals and two assists as PRCC finished 2-1. She dramatically picked up her first goal of the week against Meridian. The teams were tied up at one goal apiece as the clock ticked below one minute left in the match. A ball into the box landed at the feet of the forward, and she smashed it into the back of the net for a game-winner. She followed it up by picking up another goal and two assists against National Park.

Alvarez has four goals and two assists through PRCC’s first seven matches of the year.

CAMERON KENT
Kent was incredible between the posts for the Pearl River men’s soccer team last week. He began the week by turning away both shots that came his way against Northwest. In PRCC’s match against Meridian, Kent saved an incredible 10 shots. Finally, against National Park, Kent saved all six shots he faced. He had 18 saves, three wins, and three clean sheets for the week.

Kent has played in all 11 games this season, making 61 saves and allowing 19 goals. His save percentage sits at .762.
