PEARL — Although St. Stanislaus wasn’t able to accomplish the feat of winning its third state baseball title in a 13-year span, the Rocks were well-represented on the Class 3A all-state squads.

As was its catholic coast brethren St. Patrick.

A trio of SSC standouts were named to the Class 3A All-State First Team, in Hugh LeMasters, Chesley Rhodes and Ole Miss signee Seth Farni.

Roc-A-Chaw Hill Gainey was named to the Second Team, as was St. Patrick’s Otis Brook.

Amory knocked off SSC two games to one and won the Class 3A state championship as the Panthers captured their first back-to-back state titles in school history. Amory took the top individual hardware in Class 3A, as head coach Chris Pace was named “Coach of the Year” and Catcher Walker Maranto was named “Player of the Year”.

The Panthers were also well-represented on the Class 3A All-State First Team as Tyler Sledge, Ty Hester and Bryce Glenn were all selected for the squad as well as Maranto. Amory completed their back-to-back title journey quest as road nomads after not playing an actual home game since a destructive tornado destroyed the Panther’s home field in mid-season.
Amory beat Center Hill in what would be its final home game this season on March 23, even if the Panthers didn’t know it then. The tornado hit the following night, and Amory wouldn’t take the field again until a road game against Saltillo on April 1.
The Panthers have had to bounce around a bit for the rest of the season using a few different venues for home games, and they used Hamilton High’s field as their home ballpark in the Class 3A North State finals before settling into Turstmark Pary for the title series.
